shield
Hey, its called an ignition / engine or weather shield. Not sure what the actual name is for the lugs, but if you explain that theyre for attaching the shield, then im sure a parts place will know what you mean. The shield is available on this site as latest engine shield. Theres no photo, but im sure this is the right part.

Or you can buy an O/E one from Mini Spares: -

Mind you I have seen cheaper versions available on e-Bay in any colour you like, perspex too!

A thin piece of wood cut to shape and fitted inside of the grill and painted with weatherproof paint does the job for me (I had terrible trouble with rain at first) and a rubber washing up glove over the distributer (with fingers cut so leads fit through).
This solved all my rain and damp problems have driven in heavy rain at speed on motorway without any problems at all.

I believe so and if Mini Spares don't stock them then someone like Moss probably does, because I've bought just the clips from them in the past.

Weather shield
Hey guys
Like the previous post about ignition problems, i have been having the same. Everytime i drive in wet weather conditions, my mini doesnt run. i lose all power, and she misfires terribly. So much so that i have to pull in and wait for it all to dry out properly.
I have bought a w4eather shield, and am just tryin to fit it. But have confused myself over where the bottom bracket for it is meant to go? does anyonme know for definate. cheers...
I'm assuming once i get the weather shield in everything will be ok. Looks liek a lot of people ahve similar problems. Just wondering what other tips and things you guys do to sort out this problem.
Thanks for your help
Dan

id leave bottom one its un nessary and is real aqward to undo. im gessing little metal bar bolts to sump with plastic insert in end that the clip on the weather bourd fixes to. but my mini is not here with me to cheak where it bolts.

ok cool thanks for that, i had another look today, and there was actually already a bracket on the car, i belive this is what confused me. i overloooked it thinking it was something else (it ws bent, not like thenew bracket).
Have managed to fix it now, so weather sheld is in place, just hoping it does the job and car will run fine in the rain.

Check that one out too- it's cheaper but it doesn't say of it includes the brackets but if you've already got them then it's not a problem!!

Dampers for a Cooper but not a mini......
Is it not possible to just cut away the dust shield and thereby expose the strut?

ignition problems...(damn rain)
Then they can't be fine if the rain is bothering them. Fit an ignition shield and fit better quality parts.
