1986 Mayfair using 1989 Metro City X running gear and stage one kit
hello fellow mini people.
I have just managed to acquire a low mileage 38,000 mile metro 1.3 city X (unleaded 1989 model) with std 9.4:1 compression ratio. I have checked the engine over and is ok except the inivatable leaky rocker gasket.
My problems lie here:-
My mini is sound in regard to the shell, but I want to transplant the engine from the metro to the mini.
I am concerned in regard to the following:-
1) Can I use the solid 8.4" disks with the Metro 4 pot calipers? I have bought a conversion braided kit, but just concerned in the conversion from metro to mini. my plan is to use the metro calipers but on the new mini swivel hubs?
2) Radiator? I want to do a flip front conversion (steel, I have all the panels I need). Can I mount the metro rad on the subframe, if so how? Or do I use a std mini 4 core side mounted rad from the old mini ( old rad is in very good condition)
3) A steel flip front conversion. My friend has done a fair few but what about the electrics radio aerial etc, quick release connectors, use tow bow electric type connector? I dont know thats the reason I am asking.
4) Cable clutch (metro) to mini, mmmm do I swap the ancillaries from my 998cc (Hydraulic slave cylinder etc) from my mini and somehow fit them to metro block.
5) The heater on the metro is different, can I use / modify the mini heater valve to the metro pipe work on the cooling system without airlock problems.
any feedback please help as i am a mini lover in the first degree and I want dolly on the road for the 2009 50th birthday celebrations.

any feedback regarding my poor mini would be of help.
