Injection Cars - Tuning up-date

OK, so what's happened to the Min Tec/Mini Spares development program?

It has been a long time between my first few words on basic injection car tuning and these - for that I apologise, but business has been unbelievably fraught this year.

I did promise regular and frequent up-dates, but the best laid plans, and all that… As I said, business has been more than brisk.

OK, so what's happened to the Min Tec/Mini Spares development program? Apart from a whole lot of investigation and repetitive research into what's available currently - not that much. It is all hinging on this forthcoming ECU from this particular company. Unfortunately the company concerned is not run by businessman or automotive engineers. They are electronics whiz kids who are trying to achieve the Holy Grail.

MSSK019 – QUICK RELEASE BONNET HINGESFITTING INSTRUCTIONS

The hinges are handed left and right and unlike standard type are pre-shaped.

These can be bent slightly between bonnet mounting end and the spring clip to suit individual cars. Ensure that you do not bend the pre-shaped spring clip end, as this will weaken fixing strength. If the clip fits too tight for quick release, a tiny amount can be filed out of the hinge end as shown, not advised (figure 1.)

There are two sets of holes for the bonnet fixing which covers all vehicles from 1971 on. Check with existing hinge and bonnet for correct assembly. Wrong assembly will be noted quickly as bonnet will appear 1/2” forward. On the bulkhead, there have been different types of brackets. Ensure that you use the original bolt holes if there are more than one. The spring clip and hinge bend away from each other in opposite directions to give correct fitment (figure 2) into the bracket on the bulkhead using the bolt with a locknut attached. Largely because the re-fit and re-furb were kept to a minimum following complete strip re-build plans shot to pieces by tradesmen being somewhat hard to pin down to get very necessary domestic work done.

Rally and Race This very basic looking adjustable suspension cone was sent to us by an Australian company who have been producing them by the bucket load since the mid 80s. At minimal cost, the bolt and nut are as basic as the casting, but function perfectly. In Australia, cars are tested (Mon to check that all corner heights of the suspension are equal and this is the cheap fix. As customers say: "You can't see the part under normal circumstances, and it keeps the car on the road"! It looks a very primitive pre-runner to all the types that have appeared on the European Market!
