I have resontly changed the disks and the torque setting for the nut it is between 250 and 270 nm. With Alot of strength and a extention bar jammed between 2 of the wheel studs fowling on the floor i up did them with a 3 foot torque wrench.

scap? areyah nuts?
its a small bore open chamber head. used with raised crown pistons prone to cracking thus .. watch out when fitting to a 998 now (as there are no raised crown pistons available you need to mill a chunck off) but could be good on a 1098 (due to the largeisch chamber). very hard to get flow improvements though im told

nuts
Id buy some new locking nuts ready, and then use a hammer and chisel to get the old ones off - that way you dont need to spoil four sockets if they jam onto the nuts. Just hammer the chisel into the nut to get it moving anti-clockwise.

locking nuts
I had this same problem and no tyre places locally would sort it out, so had to beat them off with a hammer and chisel, brutal but does the job. Nick P

Oh no. Nothing like that. Im talking about the gearstick itself and the box it sits in, not the gearbox. Thats the bit you can see moving about if you lift the carpet up.

Very common problem, Im afraid. Youll have to use plenty of penetrating oil, heat and pateince. If you can get a small-ish pipe-wrench onto it, youll have better luck than with mole-grips. Once its loose, you can unscrew it completely and replace it witrh a new one, use lots of copper-grease, then buy the proper spanner!

locking wheel nuts
They sell locking wheelnut removers at Halfords. its a coloured socket with a reverse thread on it so you screw it onto the nut, then get a breaker bar and just screw it off. they do locking wheel nuts for the mini aswell, £32.99 not too bad Stu

Torque setting for hub nut
I need to remove the large nut with the split pin at the centre of the wheel hub on the front of my 1994 Mini Sprite. When I come to refit it, can anyone tell me what level it needs to be torqued to?
Thanks
Chris

Your CV joint should have a single hole going through it - if so, torque to 185lb ft and then keep tightening until the split pin hole lines up with the next slots in the nut. If it has two holes going through, torque to 170lb ft and tighten until next hole/slot alignment.
Things are easier here if you are removing the disc/drive flange to make sure when you re-engage the flange on the spline that the hole in the CV is mid-way between two studs. Access is a great deal easier.

I found a set of 12" dunlop alloys a couple of weeks ago and wondered if anyone knew what type of wheel nuts I need?
I looked at th 10" versins i saw at L2B and the majority looked like sleeved nuts a bit like the Revolution style but shorter!!
any ideas guys?

Cosmic Alloy Nuts
I've just got hold of a set of cosmic alloys for my Mini. Only problem is I am not sure what type of wheel nuts I should use with them. Had a search through several mini shop sites to no avail. Unfortunately, the car they came off had several different types on nuts on it so I don't know which are the best fit. The car I intend to fit them to is a 1992 Mayfair which currently has 12 x 5 Revolutions.

Chrome nuts
Hi,
We have a 1992 mini mayfair have decided to change to alloy wheels. The C.T wheels have been fitted to tyres now ready to put on but we are yet to purchase the wheel nuts. Could you please advise part numbers for standard chrome nuts plus a security keyed nut(one per wheel)?

HELP! Front Hub nut
I recently had the mis-fortune of having a bottom ball joint go, whilst on a corner. Looks like its trashed the hub.
My car is a mini based kitcar, which uses a mini front subframe at the front (and another one at the back with the engine in it).
So, the hub does not have a drive shaft attatched but it does have half an outer CV joint for the hub nut to tighten onto.
My problem is, that even with the hub very tight in a vice, I cannot get the hub nut off. Any ideas, tools, bodges I can try. (its a disc brake hub),
Paul
