I had a similiar problem on my mini (1275 A+ with a HIF44) and it turned out to be the fuel mixture adjustment screw had backed out a couple of turns. If you don't have one already, get yourself a colortune and check your mix.

could be a intake leak as well or your timing is a little out.

for that amount of money look into having a machine shop do the inserts and have the head shaved.

Custom subframe manufacturing / modifications - where to go?
Can anyone point me in the direction of a firm which can make replacement (rear) subframes but with slight modifications from the standard, or possibly modify an existing one.
I need to see about getting the rear subframe on my 1992 mini either adjusted or a new one made, to make it few centimetres deeper front to back. Looking at where the body sits on the frame I think this should be possible - there looks to be space for about 4cm adjustment there.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Andrew

Windsceen wipers not working on fast speed
Ive re-wired my mini from scratch and everything is OK apart from a strange problem with the windscreen wipers.
Im pretty sure its not electrical, because, if I disconnect the mechanical cable that runs from the wiper motor to the blade arms the motor will run on fast and slow speed. But when the mechanics are connected it will only run at slow speed. The fast speed moves the wipers half a cycle then stops.
Any ideas as to what might be wrong?

they're brand new wheel boxes too so i can only assume its the cable or the motor?

cutting A panels when fitting 13' wheels
Hi, I'm currently fitting 13" wheels on my mini, I know I have to cut away part of the front panel and wing but when its on full lock it catches the A panel, has anyone had this problem before? do I just need to trim the A panel as well or is there a problem elsewhere causing this catching. I also have 3/4" spacers on the front. I have lowered the mini and fitted GAZ adjustable dampers. Hope somebody could help.
Many thanks

Drop gears
Hi, I have a 1380 fast road engine fitted with straight box and drop gear set, the drop gears are 24, 31 , 24. The bearing on the idler gear failed and has damaged the shaft on the gear so it needs replaced.
All I can seem to find is 30 tooth options, will this fit or do I need to buy the whole matching set?
