Windscreen Wipers have gone all 'weak' !?
Hi Dan,
You may have sorted this already and if so maybe this could help someone else!
I had the same problem and eventually my wipers stopped completely, it turned out that taking the whole assembly out of the car and greasing the inner cable, after dismantling the assembly of course, helped a lot. The mechanism seemed to run a lot better.
Let me know how it goes.

Oil filler cap fumes, and oil leak...
Hi,
My rocker cover on my 1000 Park lane is leaking through the bolt holes on the top, and the oil filler cap too.
I guess this would be easy to solve by buying a new rocker cover and gasket.
However! When the engine is running there are fumes coming out of the oil filler cap, almost like exhaust gases as they do not make a tissue wet if i hold one over the opening so i dont think its oil vapour.
Could this also just be solved by getting a new rocker cover with a better sealing cap, or is ther a different problem??
The engine is running at normal temp, so my intial thought of it being head gasekt is wrong i hope!
PLEASE HELP!!

Fitting a Splash Cover on engine
On top of the rocker cover, there are be the two bolts which hold it down. Attatched to the bolts, there should be two brackets, and there is another at the bottom of the engine, ill try and find you a picture.

Log Book
Try giving them a ring, if they dont want to help you then ring the DVLA and find out where it is.
I found this on the DVLA website:
"You can obtain a new document by filling in form V62 which you can get online or from any Post Office. The completed form and appropriate fee should be sent to DVLA, Swansea, SA99 1AR. A new document will then be issued to you in about 3 - 4 weeks. If you later find the original then please return it to us with a covering letter stating what has happened."
Might be worth doing this just in case you get stoppeed by the police and asked to produce documents. plus youll need it for renweing your car tax.
PLEASE tell me you saw the registration document before buying the car!?

Bringing the shine back to dull paint
My mini has at some stage had doors put on it from another car, the previous owner decided to colour these with spray cans and so the paint is a little dull. Im afraid of polishing off the paint on the doors. The paint is fine on the rest of the car, but are there any suggestions on how to bring the shine back into these panels? (theyre black)
thanks, Matthew.

fuel guage aint working
When mine broke, the way i checked how much was in the tank was to turn of the engine when going along and brake hard so the petrol swished about, then i could hear how much was in it!!!
Not the best way of telling though!?
I worked it out that i got 200miles from a 20pound fill up, then use the mileage to see how much is left.
Other than that, look in the haynes manual, mine was a dodgy needle on the dash!
Good luck

Thanks for the advice guys. i decided to have a bit of a polishing frenzy today as the weather was nice and theye come up ok, thanks to some autoglym! But theyre still not perfect and i think ill have to get them sprayed so they are as good as my other panels.
Happy mini-ing! Matthew!

My 1987 Park Lane
Hi everyone!
Just thought i'd show you my mini, standard at the moment, but looking to do some tasteful mods, starting with some revo wheels. Although it now has bonnet hooks and chrome wipers due to a bonnet flying up disaster!
The park lane decals on the outside are no more, but hey! Let me know what you think (Paint needs doing around the mirror I know!)
After £300 for the car and £300 getting it to work! I consider it a bargain!
I plan to have revo wheels, stage 1 kit, race seats and harnesses.
Any more ideas!?
Thanks,
Matthew!

No Speedo
Im not sure if its the same on yours as it is mine but here goes. Mines a 1987 mini 1000. Well, the best way to get the cable off at the other end is to use a strip of sandpaper a few inches long to help you grip the nut, then at the bottom of the cable there will be that nut holding the cable onto the gearbox. It is a case of undoing that, which will be quite a struggle, and then undoing it from behind the speedo and pulling it out.
haynes is handy, look on the thread for the "manual in PDF" in the forum if you dont have one.

Painting, anyone have any tips
Im thinking of painting my doors and have the paint code etc. All i need to know is how to prepare the surface, and the best way of painting.
Also once iv got the top coat on, is there something to put over the top to stop the paint coming off with polish?
Thank you in advance for your help

Sounds to me like you need a new speedo drive. This is a pin thing with a cog on it and yes there are different cogs for different cars. Best bet is to phone your local mini specialist and ask them what it is you'll need.

Paint code
Hi, cant help with the speedo but your paint ccode is as follows.
Kingfisher Blue - JAX (BLVC1228)
Hope this helps. JAX is the austin code, but if you want paint mixed, like at halfords, youll need BLVC1228

Will the plane take off?
If the conveyer is moving backwards at the same speed as the plane going forwards, it will not move at all after the first few meters, as when the two speeds match it will be like being on a treadmill, or rolling road.

Driving a 700 mile return journey...
I'm planning to drive from my house in the south east, right across the bottom of the country to Devon in the summer.
Anyone done anything similar and can offer any tips as in parts or tools to take?

Whoops, i snapped it off but can it be replaced? (Urgent help please!)
Hi there,
I just fitted a new rocker cover gasket to my mini 1000.
However, whilst tightening the bolt i managed to snap one of the stems coming up from the engine on to which you screw the rocker cover retaining bolts. (foolish i know!)
Is this threaded piece attached, or is it something which can be replaced?
Thank you for your help.
