crossthreaded block to oil filter connection
Hi all,
I set out this morning to do an oil change. Last time i did it i had to use the halfords oil filter which is about a centimeter longer than the GFE405 uni part filter, so a real tight squeeze to get it on.
I come to change the oil, i unthread the filter but can't get it out. So i twist it and turn it, not using too much force, always aware of damaging the thread.
Anyway, in the end the connection between the filter and the block (part number CAM5331) loosens too and i have to take filter and connection out of the block. Only way i could get it out other than removing the hose from the radiator.
I try to screw the connection to the block back in but i think the thread is damaged slightly. I've no doubt if it was forced it would recut the thread and it would be fine. But
my question after all that is how many turns should the connector screw into the block? I could only get a couple because of the thread. Witht he filter on it is all secure, but i'm slightly worried of opening the engine bay one day and the filter has come away!!!!
