Missing inlet manifold plug
My 998 mini engine is fitted with a Torquemaster inlet manifold (part no.C-AHT770) with a servo take off hole on the top. The take off hole had a 5/8unf plug in it which has disappeared causing the engine to stop. I'm hoping that the plug has unscrewed itself back out of the hole somehow but the question is - can the 5/8 plug, (part no. 5-8UNF) be screwed all the way through the hole & drop into the inside of the manifold. I'm not sure if the hole in the manifold is threaded all the way through, or if it tapers towards the inside. Any info would be very welcome, as it will save me having to remove the manifold to check inside.

.
Nikki carbs are pants - dont waste your time or money. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a single 1.5 SU on a 998 - capable up to 70 bhp (youll be doing well to get that from a road-going 998) on a decent manifold (try MScs C-AHT770). Twin SUs are better - if on a decent inlet manifold . Of these there is only one - the Maniflow steel fabricated item. Just because a carb is believed to give more power (i.e. continually misunderstood about a Weber) does not make it give more power. It is the fuel metering and sufficient airflow that is important. Webers are popular because they are conceived as power-givers. Absolute nonsense. In a recent test I got more power/torque and for longer with twin SUs over the mighty Weber. Go for SUs... you drive a Mini. KC.

New inlet Manifold
Hi,
I have just bought the MINISPARES C-AHT770 inlet manifold.
When I fitted it I found the mounting is at a different angle to that of the metro inlet manifold that I have taken out and due to this I cannot get the carb to mount at all.
Has anybody had the same problem when fitting this part ? Is there a thinner spacer that can be got hold of or is there a local more drastic mod that has to be done to allow this all to fit ?
Any advice or info will be great.
