Hello, This is my first post. I have a 1973 1300 export innocenti. Does anyone know if a standard set of mini bumpers will mount correctly to my car? Thanks...Phillip

Your best bet would be to ring minispares on 01707 607700 and they will talk you through it, they know their stuff, they are friendly and they have every mini part concievable!

Cheap Bumpers
Non-genuine bumpers are fine for the front, but be careful on the back. The copies are a bit taller than the original and some of them catch on the boot hinges. As above, speak to Minispares and theyll set you right. They have good quality non-genuine ones that are ok.

Black Bumpers?
I have a Mini 1000 HLE from 1985. Now I want change somethings on the car but I have one question: My car color is brown, and the bumpers are black. Had anyone see one like mine? Is this configuration original or the previus owner change the bumpers? Tks

Hi there. I like the de-bumpered mini look, but dont know the law concerning the removal of them. Can I just take them off and drive, or is there a body mod needed to allow me to remain road legal? Many thanks.

Thanks for info. When you say de-seaming the bumper area,do I just cut it off and file it down,or will there be any welding involved?

1999 Mini Cooper 1.3i Rear Bumper?
Hi,
I own a 1999 Rover Mini Cooper and I have tried to replace the rear bumper on two occasions, with two different bumpers.
The first was one I bought on the cheap at a mini event, it did not fit.
The second was one I purchased from Minispares today.
Again this does not fit even though I was assured it would, I will upload some pictures if necessary, but I was just wondering if anyone knew precisely what rear bumper I need?
One with a rolled lip I believe? Just unfortunate that minispares don't have any genuine rover ones in stock.
Any response would be grateful.
Thanks
Taylor

As far as I'm aware, all mini bumpers are the same dimensions.
When you say they didn't fit - can you describe it in more detail?
On my car, which has had a replacement boot floor and rear valance, I had to enlarge the holes slightly to get the bumper bolts to fit, and then use large washers underneath, but once that was done the fit of the bumper was perfect.

I have the Minispares stainless ones fitted to a Mk2. There is a little variance in the body panels and bumpers between production runs so it is not unusual to have to "spring" a bumper into place or to have to open up the holes in the mounting area to give a little adjustment. Providing it isn't preventing the bootlid hinge from opening then you aren't ever going to get a precision fit unless you are in the body prep stage of a rebuild.

I shall upload some pictures to further my query, it may just require a little tinkering!
It seems to me and my un-experienced mind that the top lip of the bumper comes out at too much of an angle, I will investigate properly and come back to this thread.

Bumper and fiberglass front end
Does anyone know an easy way to fasten a front bumper to a fiberglass front end? Does anyone make brackets for this or is it something that I would need to try and fabricate?

If you have weak brackets and they break loose when/if you hit something you may have issues with vehicle construction and the road traffic act.
Trying to keep it as strong and as original as possible I'd suggest that you use the metal bumper bracket that is normally welded full width to the metal front valance. You can pre drill it for fixing and then have it painted so that rust cannot develop behind. Perhaps fix with large blind rivets or bond in captive nuts to the back of the GRP panel ?

Thanks for the ideas and link Barry. I will look into that a little more as I didn't even think about the brackets breaking due to road conditions. Thank you very much.
